ASUS RS163-E4/RX4 is the latest 1U powerful server based on dual AMD socket 1207 Opteron 2000 series processors with DDR2 support. With leading technologies, ample storage and considerate redundancy design, it is ideal for 1U enterprise level application. Two socket1207 are ready for the latest industrial leading OpteronTM processors with immediate performance scale up and fast processing speed. 8 DIMM slots support DDR2 533/667 Reg. memory up to 32GB, which provides better memory bandwidth than DDR. To offer a working environment with effective thermal solution, both processors and DIMM slots are located at the border, with the latter paralleling to the airflow. With unique cable-less design, ASUS RS163-E4/RX4 not only provides neat and professional overview, but also benefits MIS with easier diagnosis and maintenance. Without cables inside, the server is obviously improved in air ventilation and lengthened in life span of components. Via two riser cards, users will find one Full-Height / Half-Length PCI-E x16 interface and one Low-Profile PCI-E x8 or Low Profile PCI-X slot; 4 * 3.5 bays support both SAS and SATAII HDDs for convenient demands; Dual Broadcom Gb LAN ports support ôTeamingö function, which provides load-balance and fault tolerance features, and an optional 3rd LAN chip is dedicated for OOB remote control utility with iKVM support. RS163-E4/RX4 has 4 HDD bays in the 1U chassis, which support up to 4 hot-swap SAS or SATAII HDDs. Since HDD is one of the main thermal sources in chassis, itÆs really a challenge to accommodate 4 HDDs in the limited space. However, Asus has successfully solved the problem through balancing thermal design and fulfilling the users' demand on ample storage.

Description
For better data protection, the server has built in LSI 1068 PCI-X SAS controller to support RAID 0, 1, 1E and RAID 5 (with optional ZCR RAID card); and there is also an optional external SAS Kit with IB connector to facilitate external enclosure or JBOD storage capacity expansion, which significantly saves almost 50% cost for customers compared with other solutions in the market. Redundancy functions are key features of RS163-E4/RX4, for example, dual server class Broadcom Gb LAN ports provide Failover function, which support load-balance and failover function for smooth network transfer; while the 700W 1+1 redundant power supply eliminates system downtime caused by power module (default shipment with 1 PSU Module & Dummy Cover). Finally, ASUS ASWM2.0 system software is able to handle your trouble in management. With effective management and monitoring via intelligent interaction & image; customers may have a clear view regarding CPU, memory, HDD, fan speed, OS, FRU, NIC and other working status.
